Guttering
Guttering and Gutter Repairs
Gutters take a battering all year round. We install, repair and clear guttering across Coventry, Solihull, Warwick and Rugby.
Service overview
What is involved in guttering
Guttering has one job, to carry rainwater off the roof and away from the building, but it is often the most neglected part of a house. Blocked, leaking or sagging gutters send water down walls, behind fascias and into foundations, so problems here rarely stay small for long. We deal with everything from a single leaking joint to a full replacement around the whole property.
Most homes we work on have UPVC guttering in half round or deep flow profiles, and we also fit cast iron style UPVC where a period property needs to keep its look without the weight and maintenance of real cast iron. Brackets are spaced and fixed to the fascia at the correct falls so water runs to the downpipe rather than sitting or overflowing at a low point.
A sagging run of gutter is almost always down to brackets that have come loose or a fascia board that has softened underneath them. Simply clipping the gutter back up without checking the fascia just means it will drop again. We check what the brackets are fixed into as part of any repair, not just the gutter itself.
Leaking joints are one of the most common calls we get. On older systems the seals in union joints perish and let water through even if the gutter itself is fine. We can usually replace the joint and seal without touching the rest of the run, keeping the job quick and the cost down where a full replacement is not needed.
Clearing gutters is something we get asked to do regularly, especially in autumn when leaves and moss from nearby trees build up fast. A blocked gutter overflows in heavy rain and can send water straight down the wall or into the roofline timbers behind it, so keeping them clear is one of the cheapest bits of maintenance a homeowner can do.
Downpipes get the same attention as the gutters they connect to. We reroute or replace pipes that discharge in the wrong place, replace cracked sections, and check that shoes and hoppers are secured properly so water reaches the drain rather than splashing against the wall.
Access is usually straightforward for guttering work, often done from a tower or ladder depending on the height of the property, though taller houses or terraces sometimes need scaffolding for safe working, which we would include in the quote. We cover guttering work across Coventry, Solihull, Leamington Spa, Nuneaton and Kenilworth, with every job backed by a free written quote and guarantee terms confirmed in writing.

Common problems
Problems we put right
The faults we see most often when homeowners ask us about guttering.
Overflowing gutters
Usually caused by a blockage of leaves and debris, or a fall that has dropped at one point. Water spilling over the edge in heavy rain is a sign it needs attention soon.
Leaking joints
Union joints and seals wear out over time, especially on older UPVC systems. A drip at a joint is a quick fix if caught early, before the water starts to damage the fascia behind it.
Sagging gutter runs
A gutter that dips in the middle has usually lost bracket support, sometimes because the fascia underneath has softened. We check both before fixing it back into place.
Damaged downpipes
Cracked or disconnected downpipes let water discharge against the wall instead of into the drain, which over time can lead to damp problems at ground level.
Our process
How we work, step by step
- 1
Assess the system
We check the whole run, brackets, falls, joints and downpipes, to find out exactly what is causing the problem rather than just patching the symptom.
- 2
Written quote
You get a clear price for the repair or replacement, including any fascia work needed to support new brackets properly.
- 3
Carry out the work
We replace or repair sections, refit brackets at the correct falls, and clear any blockages found along the way.
- 4
Test with water
Where possible we run water through the system to check it flows properly to the downpipe before we finish up.
Why choose us
Benefits of choosing The Roofing Lads
Fixes the actual cause
We look at brackets and fascias, not just the gutter itself, so repairs last rather than needing redoing.
Full or partial repairs
We will replace a single joint or section where that is all that is needed, rather than pushing a full replacement unnecessarily.
Clearing included
Gutter clearing can be arranged alongside repairs so the whole system is working properly, not just the part that was leaking.
Own team on every job
The roofers who quote your gutter work are the ones who carry it out, with no subcontractors involved.
Gutters are easy to forget about until water starts coming over the top or down the wall, but keeping them clear and well maintained protects the fascias, brickwork and foundations of the whole house. Small repairs now usually save bigger costs later.
If your gutters are leaking, sagging or overflowing, get in touch for a free written quote. We cover Coventry, Solihull, Warwick, Rugby, Nuneaton and Kenilworth, and can often fit clearing and repairs in together on the same visit.
