Roofers Covering Coventry and the Surrounding Areas

Coventry is a big, mixed city and the roofing work reflects that. In areas like Earlsdon and Chapelfields we are often called out to Victorian and Edwardian terraces with slate roofs that have been up there a long time. Out towards Tile Hill and Canley the housing is mostly interwar and postwar semis with concrete tile roofs, and in Cheylesmore and Stivichall you get a real mix of styles from Georgian-influenced villas to 1930s bay-fronted semis.

Weather off the Midlands plateau means Coventry roofs take a fair bit of wind and driving rain over a year, and that shows up as slipped slates, lifted ridge tiles and blocked valley gutters. We get a lot of calls after a windy night from homeowners who have found tiles in the garden or water coming through a bedroom ceiling.

Most of our work here is repairs and maintenance, but we also do full re-roofs where a roof has simply reached the end of its life, plus flat roofing on the many rear extensions and garages that Coventry homes tend to have. We cover the whole city, from Radford and Foleshill in the north to Finham and Green Lane in the south.

Coventry housing stock runs from pre-war terraces with slate roofs, through solid 1930s semis with clay or concrete tiles, to the larger postwar estates built after the wartime rebuilding, many of which used concrete interlocking tiles that are now due for attention. There is also a good amount of ex-council stock around areas like Wood End and Willenhall, often with simpler roof shapes that are straightforward to work on but still need proper flashing and ventilation.

Slate is common on the older terraces in Earlsdon, Chapelfields and around the city centre, and where we replace slate we try to match it or use a Welsh slate that keeps the roof looking right, especially on the streets with a strong Victorian character. On the newer estates concrete tiles are the norm, and matching an existing tile profile matters if only part of a roof needs doing.

Flat roofs turn up a lot on rear kitchen extensions, garages and dormers across the city, and a good number of these are now due for an upgrade from old felt to something like EPDM or GRP fibreglass, both of which last a lot longer and cause fewer callbacks.
